You all know I'm a huge fan of Spoonflower and regularly spotlight some of my favorite designers. Recently I've noticed some amazing designer-inspired designs on there. So if you're in love with a certain "look" but can't afford the 6 yards or so you need to recover that fabulous arm chair you scored on Craig's List, spend some time on Spoonflower! At $32/yard for their upholstery weight fabrics, it's a substantial savings over most designer fabrics.
Here are some of my favorite Spoonflower designs to give you that designer look for a whole lot less $$.

What Spoonflower fabrics have you favorited for future use? And how do you feel about these designer inspired creations? A lot of people feel like Spoonflower shouldn't allow them, especially in the case of fabric designs with licensed characters (Star Wars is a big one).
{full disclosure: leaf chain & connect the blocks are my designs}

Great post. I am new to Spoonflower - going to check it out today.
While I'm all for the democratization of design, I have a hard time when the Spooonflower versions are SO close to the original (i.e., the Orla Kiely and Quadrille copies). While some of the "to the trade" prices are prohibitive, I do think these designer fabrics are of a superior quality and weight. When shopping on Spoonflower, I think I lean towards prints that aren't direct copies of another designer's work.
I agree with Ashley. I think its like a knock off purse, maybe no one will no it's a knock off but I do and it bothers me for some reason. I'd rather pick a different fabric then one that looks like a designer fabric. I am a fan of spoon flower though.
Cool! I still have yet to check out Spoonflower...I know, pathetic:) Wow, those ones you made are awesome! Happy 15 months to Knox!! Lol at giving up on the photo shoots, I know it is so hard...but I'm going to try and stick with it as long as she'll let me, even if I get crazy poses like the other day! Have a great weekend, Dina! Enjoy that little man of yours:)
As a Spoonflower designer (and the designer of the Charcoal Dots and Freeform Arrows above), my biggest fear is someone believing that I have ripped off someone elses work.
With so much access to images and inspiration from all over, I wonder if anything in the design world is original anymore.
I work very hard on my designs. I have seen those designer fabrics before that are compared to my own, but I wasn't familiar with them before I made my own. I would never copy someone elses work, and I would be very upset if someone copied mine. I want to have my own style and look.
I guess that's all I can say to anyone who might think otherwise of my work.
Touchy subject to be sure, but an important one to discuss.
Thanks, Dina, for the blog time! (and allowing me my two cents!)
Oh AWESOME budget friendly finds!
